No homework 🚫

There will be no homework this half term holiday! 🤗 All we ask is that you keep reading and practicing your tricky words and spellings as often as you can - practice makes perfect!

Also, if you have not yet completed the leisure survey and the drawing, please try to bring it back as soon as possible!

Last Superstar of the half term!

Making spooky potions!

This week to inspire the children's creative writing 📝 we have been making spooky Halloween potions in our role play area. The children have suggested these potions can do anything from turn you invisible to turning people into spiders! 🕷😲   They had great hands on fun by mixing and pouring a range of gruesome ingredients into the cauldrons. Ask them what they included in their potions if you dare! 🕸🎃

Pouring in spider venom! 🕷

Rat-a-touille! 🐀

Snake spit! 🐍

Wart of a toad! 🐸

Cackle Cackle! 😈

Hubble, bubble, toil and trouble! 🔮

Our walk around the local area

Setting off looking very important with our clipboards! 😆

We looked to see if we could find our school and Wordsworth Avenue on our maps.

We had lots of wonderful parent helpers!
We looked inside the graveyard - what can you see?

We walked along one of the busiest roads in Blackpool - Preston New Road. Not many of us liked it, we said it was "too dangerous" and "too noisy".

We had to draw symbols on our maps to represent the features we passed along the way.

Hard at work!

Again a huge thank you to all our parents helpers today, the children enjoyed it, we hope you did too! 👍🏻😊

Superstar of the week!

This Superstar was chosen for good listening and as a result has done some amazing maths work this week! Fabulous! 🌟

Synagogue Trip 19/10/16

Today 1G and 5EC had a trip to the local synagogue as part of their R.E curriculum. They were able to look around and find out about the things that are important to the Jewish religion and were very kindly given a talk by Rachel, our resident Jewish expert!

Paired reading with 5C!

On Friday afternoons we will be pairing up with 5C to share books and read to each other. The first session on Friday was a real hit with all the children.

What have we been up to recently in 1G?

Infant Harvest assembly

On Tuesday we held a delightful Harvest assembly in the infants where the children were able to showcase songs and poems in honour of this Autumn festival. A big thank you to all parents for their kind donations of food which will go to worthy causes in and around our town. Here are some pictures of 1G getting involved! 😀

How to keep ourselves healthy

Today we discussed lots of different ways to stay healthy. This included exercising regularly, washing our hands, visiting the dentist twice a year and going to the doctors when we feel poorly. We also talked about foods we should eat a lot of and foods we should avoid eating a lot. Here are the results of our class sorting activity which can help them with this week's homework which is to design a healthy lunchbox snack (due back Monday 17th Oct).

Superstar of the week!

This weeks Superstar was chosen for being a sensible helper and for lining up smartly. A well deserved award!
